  • Requires 1 - 2 extra nights.
  • Limited camps on Lake Mead - compete with Diamond down trips.
  • No Hualapai land crossing fees - saves $1,284.00 (16 rafters & 2 shuttle vehicles).
  • Hot, damned hot May - September. Must have PSD/BSD (Personal Shade Device/Boat Shade Device).
  • Easy (but long) shuttle - not so hard on shuttle equipment.
  • Extra difficult rapids 231-232
  • Avoids objectionable, gnat infested ravine take-out.
  • Tour helicopters by the dozens - Noise! Objectionable.
  • Current all the way to take-out.
  • Limited casual boating March - April, ie: wind may be delay in afternoons.
  • Great off season hiking September - April
  • Rather small take-out beach, share in morning with commercial motor rigs.
  • No lake motor needed.
  • Jet boat traffic May - September.
  • Excellent rapids - more fun!
  • No firewood available on Lake Mead.
